Sue Scheff (Parent Advocate) Protect Your Children Online

Image
Daily I received phone calls and emails from parents with concerns about their kids Internet Usage as well as what they are reading on their Social Networking pages such as MySpace . Many of the kids today are not aware of the lasting effect a humorous picture today can cause for the future. Our children today are the same kids that will be applying for colleges and jobs several years from now. However, to a child/teen, that seems like a lifetime away. As a parent, we can help monitor their activity by always keeping your lines of communication open. Another option for parents is Reputation Defender MyChild . This service will send you monthly reports on your child's name and what is being said about them. Many parents have signed up for this service, and personally - I think it is a priceless in today's unregulated cyberspace. Protecting our children comes natural to most parents - now we have to expand our protection to the expanding world of the web. As a Parent Advocate , I

Preventing Addiction: What Parents Must Know To Immunize Their Kids Against Drug and Alcohol Addiction

Image
By: Dr. John C. Fleming Kids are Doing a Lot More Than You Think, and at an Earlier Age Recent studies show that the average child begins to drink and smoke cigarettes at age 13! This means that about half begin younger than that. Parents are rarely aware of this until their kids are several years older. By then the kids have begun other, even more dangerous activities such as drug use and underage sexual activity.

Sue Scheff: Teenage Drivers

Image
As parent that survived both my teenagers learning to drive, it was definitely very stressful and nerve wrecking! Connect with Kids provides valuable information for parents that may be preparing for their young teen to take the wheel. Especially with today's cell phones - text messages and other teen distractions - it is imperative our kids know what a responsibility it is to drive. By Connect with Kids Behind The Wheel When kids get their license, it opens up a world of freedom, and a world of risks. More teens die driving than any other age group. While we can’t protect our teenagers from everything on the road, we have to at least try to protect them from themselves – young drivers are inexperienced, easily distracted and typically drive as if they are invincible. Children won’t always listen to adults. That’s why our programs always feature real kids that your kids can relate to. In Behind the Wheel, teens share their true stories about driving and crashing – broken bones

I fought back and won an unprecedented jury verdict for damages of $11.3M . Free Speech does not condone defamation!

Carolina Springs Academy - Sue Scheff - A Thorn in WWASPS Side

For those of you that don't know my story - it all began when I was struggling with my daughter through her teenage years. After placing her in an abusive environment - from her experiences - ( Carolina Springs Academy ) - thinking I was going to get help - quite the opposite happened.Litigation followed - I won victoriously , not once but 3 times. I defeated WWASPS aka Carolina Springs Academy in August 2004 in a jury trial in their home state of Utah. I further defeated them in the Supreme Court of Appeals in June 2006. In September 2006 I won an unprecedented jury verdict for damages of $11.3M ! Teen Help Sales Reps, such as Mark Peterson , Lisa Irvin, Jane Hawley and many others (their marketing is second to none in my opinion) continues to attempt to discredit my victories as well as my experiences. I guess it is called Spin - Spin the story to fit your needs or make a sale! Several months ago - I was actually contacted by a former employee of Carolina Springs Academy - this

Boot Camps for Troubled Teens - Boot Camps for Girls - Boot Camps for Boys - Find Positive Alternatives

Image
Boot Camps for Troubled Teens Boot Camps for Girls Boot Camps for Boys Boot Camps As a Parent Advocate I am recieve many phones can emails from parents looking to place their struggling teenager into a boot camp. We ( Parents Universal Resource Experts ) never promote, refer or recommend anyone to Boot Camps . We believe in building our teens back up , not breaking them down . Many teens are suffering with low self esteem, which can lead to negative behavior. When you take a negative child and place them into a potentially punitive environment, such as a Boot Camp , you can risk your child returning with more anger and resentment. This anger is usually targeted at the person that placed them there – the parent. We believe in finding healthy, positive, nurturing and safe environments to promote your teen’s self confidence, to make better choices and determine where the negative behavior is stemming from. With this emotional growth, your teen and your family can start healing towards

Today’s kids have grown up online. Finding their way around the Internet and posting on social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook is part of their every day life. Parent's Universal Resource Experts (P.U.R.E.) and Sue Scheff Launches New Website Design

Image
My new website design for P.U.R.E. has recently been launched! It is not 100% completed yet but the new and updated design incorporates my new first book being released in July 2008. Over the past (almost 8 years!) my website has been re-designed only twice - this is the third time. Change is hard, but necessary - and like today's teens - we need to stay up-to-date with today's times. I have enhanced questions to ask schools and programs as well as helpful hints. Change is always happening and P.U.R.E. is proactive in keeping up with bringing you current information on schools and programs. P.U.R.E. continues to help thousands of families yearly. We are very proud of our association with the Better Business Bureau for many years and our excellent relationship with many therapists, schools, guidance counselors, lawyers, and other professionals that refer to P.U.R.E. on a regular basis in an effort to help families. There are going to be more exciting changes coming this year.
